The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA) is responsible for maintaining water and wastewater assets valued in excess of a billion dollars. The public water supply assets within the Charter Township of Ypsilanti and the City of Ypsilanti include:
Approximately 330 miles of distribution main (16-inch diameter and smaller)
24 miles of transmission main (larger than 16-inch diameter)
Approximately 6,157 system valves
Approximately 3,146 hydrants
Four pressure-reducing valve (PRV) vaults
Four ground storage tanks and two elevated storage tanks with a capacity of 16.25 million gallons
Six booster pumping stations with over 180 separately inventoried assets
The public wastewater assets include:
230 miles of collection sewer, ranging from 4-inch to 72-inch diameter
52 miles of interceptor sewer, ranging from 8-inch to 72-inch diameter
6,252 manholes
19 miles of force mains, ranging from 2-inch to 36-inch diameter
29 minor pumping stations
4 major pump stations
